Most "split PDF" tools make you guess page numbers from a text box. This one shows you every page as a thumbnail first, so you can see exactly what you're keeping, excluding, and reordering before you commit.
Two ways to split a PDF
Choose & reorder pages is the visual picker: every page renders as a thumbnail, click one to include or exclude it, and use the ↑ / ↓ buttons to move a page earlier or later. The badge in the corner of each selected thumbnail shows exactly where it'll land in the output — so what you see is what you get. Split every page skips selection entirely and gives you every page as its own individual PDF, bundled into a .zip — useful when you need to distribute a multi-page document as separate files rather than pick a subset.
When you'd use each
- Extracting one chapter or section from a longer document — select just those pages in "Choose & reorder."
- Removing pages with personal information before sharing a document — deselect the pages you don't want included.
- Reordering a scanned document that came out of order from the scanner — use the ↑ / ↓ buttons to fix the sequence.
- Separating invoice pages that were scanned as one batch into individual files per invoice — use "Split every page."
A closer look at the page picker
Every page thumbnail renders directly from your uploaded file the moment it loads, so you're deciding based on what the page actually contains, not a page number you have to double-check against the original. A selected page shows a small numbered badge — that number is its position in the file you're about to download, and it updates live as you move pages around with the ↑ / ↓ buttons. Deselected pages stay visible but dimmed, so you can always see the full document while deciding, and reselect anything you change your mind about before running the split.
Removing sensitive pages before sharing
A common, easy-to-miss use case: a document you need to share — a lease, a contract, a set of terms — sometimes has a page with unrelated personal or financial information you don't want to forward along with it. Rather than exporting the whole file and hoping the recipient ignores that page, use "Choose & reorder pages," deselect the page(s) you don't want included, and download a clean copy that never contained them in the first place — as opposed to just telling someone to "ignore page 4."
Frequently asked questions
Can I select the same page to appear twice in the output?
Not currently — each original page can appear at most once in the resulting PDF.
What happens to pages I don't select?
They're simply left out of the output PDF entirely — nothing is altered in a way that affects your original file, since you're always working from the uploaded copy.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No — in "Choose & reorder" mode, pages are copied directly from the source with no re-rendering, so quality is identical to the original.
Can I split a very long PDF, like 100+ pages?
Yes, though rendering that many thumbnails takes a little longer since it all happens locally, on your device. For very long documents, give it a few extra seconds to finish generating previews before scrolling through them.
Can I undo a selection after downloading?
Your original upload is never modified — the output is always a new file. Just re-upload the original and make different selections if you need a different result.
Does the thumbnail preview affect the final file quality?
No — thumbnails are a small, low-resolution preview only, purely for you to see what each page contains. The actual output pages are copied at full original quality.
